Pokémon are certainly a diverse group, coming in all manner of shapes, sizes, strengths, and elemental capabilities… and that means that they are each designed to be the perfect fit for some situations and a complete mismatch in others. Even a massive, fearsome Pokémon like Onix is competing at a disadvantage when matched up against a water or grass-type Pokémon, and the relatively small Pikachu can prove to be too much to handle for the mighty Gyarados due to his electric attacks. Choosing to use one Pokémon over another isn’t about preferential treatment or “liking one better”… they are simply better suited for roles that are as unique as the Pokémon are.
Our Heavenly Father doesn’t play “favorites” with us, even though it may feel that way sometimes. He knows our strengths, our weaknesses, our specific areas of temptation, and designed a path for each of us in life to grow His kingdom with our unique skill sets in mind. Let’s embrace what He has chosen us for, even if this battle isn’t one that we would’ve chosen for ourselves or feels harder than the challenges that He has given others. Our talents, our callings, and our battles in life are not an accident… we were chosen, designed, and destined by Him for this exact moment in time and these critical missions to complete. What appears to be a mismatch in our eyes is often a “David vs. Goliath” situation in disguise.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Romans 8:28-30
Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will. Ephesians 1:4-5
