If anyone understands that the path to fulfilling our destiny is rarely a straight line, it’s Optimus Prime. Orion Pax was just a simple dockworker who was given the honor and the responsibility of becoming “Optimus Prime” and leading the Autobots in their battle against the Decepticons. He never sought out the Matrix of Leadership or aspired to play such a pivotal role in the future of Cybertron, but he was chosen for it nonetheless… a lesson he explained to the young Sam Witwicky many years later when he was placed in a similar position that he never asked for. Neither of them were picked at random or by accident… they were each designed for this role at this moment in time.
As every follower of the Lord has found to be true throughout the Bible to our modern era, there are no coincidences in life… just divine intersections that we don’t fully comprehend at the time. From Esther’s journey of winning an Old Testament version of “The Bachelorette” as a means of preventing the genocide of the Jews to the death of Stephen, the first Christian martyr, serving as the catalyst for the Apostle Paul’s ministry, our Heavenly Father rarely uses predictable patterns to accomplish His purposes. The God who knows every hair on our head and commands the flight paths of sparrows has a plan for us and He isn’t surprised by today’s problems. He designed and chose us for this before we took our first breath.
Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14b
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:28-31
