Starscream, Megatron’s second-in-command, may be the ultimate Decepticon… not because he is the most intelligent or most powerful of his teammates, but due to the fact that he is the most “deceptive”. Starscream’s constant plotting and conniving makes it impossible for even his own leader to trust him, a truly unreliable asset who is as likely to turn on his own side as he is to help them. Starscream’s selfish ambition not only tends to prevent the Decepticons from defeating the Autobots, but his duplicitous nature proves he is his own worst enemy time and time again.
Even as followers of Christ, we all still have a selfish voice in our heads that compels us to do the wrong things or make choices that gratify and glorify ourselves above all other goals… and as the Apostle Paul showed, we will have to face this adversary until our final day on this planet. The only way to win these battles is by yielding control of our thoughts and actions to Christ, allowing him to wear the crown in our lives each day and in every decision we make. Our flesh will always be at war with our desire to serve the Lord, so don’t lose heart when it feels like your mind is betraying you. We’ve all got a “Starscream” in our heads trying to take control… let’s submit all of our thoughts and hidden motives to the obedience of Christ and keep Him on the throne of our hearts.
He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:8b
