Pokémon may come in many different shapes and sizes, but there is one thing they all have in common… they were meant to GROW. Whether they are changing forms, adding new moves or simply “leveling up” their abilities, maintaining the status quo is not in their vocabulary. While every Pokémon has a unique development path to take, every encounter is an opportunity to add to their experience points and become more than what they were before. Growth and transformation are all part of the expectation, and a good Pokémon trainer understands that for a Pokémon to live its best life it must grow a little bit more each day.
The Lord doesn’t permit us to enter battles and take on challenges in life because He is cruel… He is committed to our growth and development and He uses these circumstances to increase our experience, building us into the champions of faith that we are each becoming. And “training” is a two-way street… we each own our part of this transformative process as well, and it is through our consistent commitment to reading His words, spending time in prayer and study, and putting our faith into daily practice that we become more than what we were at the start of our journey. We can’t remain a level one Pokémon and expect to enjoy the benefits of a Pokémon who has applied themselves and achieved their max level… let’s move forward into the deeper waters today.
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God. Hebrews 6:1
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
