Optimus Prime’s Belief Worth Dying For: “Freedom is the Right of All Sentient Beings”

From his decision to lead the fight in the war for Cybertron to his defense of humanity on Earth, Optimus Prime’s reason for taking up arms can be summed up in his famous quote, “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings”. Whether they were worthy of this choice or even understood the choice being provided to them did not change his belief that all life forms deserved an opportunity to decide between a life of freedom or tyranny for themselves. Optimus believed in this so much that he was willing to give his life to provide that option… and it was up to the souls that he died for to make his sacrifice worth it by choosing to walk in the freedom that he purchased for them.

God did not have to come down to earth and die for us… He CHOSE to die knowing in advance that many of us wouldn’t even accept the offer of a new life free from the tyranny of sin that He was purchasing for us. That is a thought worthy of being repeated… His love for us is so great that He chose to suffer and die knowing that much of humanity would misunderstand and reject His gift of freedom. Can you imagine giving your life to save a roomful of people trapped in a fire only for some to decide to remain in the fire? Well, that’s what Jesus did for us… He sacrificed himself to give us the ability to choose freedom from a life of bondage to sin and its consequences. What we decide to do with His gift of freedom is up to us.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8
