Before Captain America assembled the entire MCU to battle Thanos, he was the “man out of time”. A relic from a forgotten era, Steve felt out of place in the world he woke up in and yearned for the simpler days when good and evil were more clearly defined. It would’ve been easy for him to decide that this new world wasn’t a place worth saving or that he was the wrong man for the job, but his heroic actions to thwart Hydra in the past was just the beginning of his purpose on this planet. He wasn’t a “man out of time”; his time was now and all of his previous missions were just a prelude for the future battles that he would fight with the fate of the entire universe on the line.
There are many times in my life I’ve wondered if I was born in the wrong era, my best days are behind me, or that my opportunity to make an impact for His kingdom lies somewhere in my broken past. But just as Steve Rogers was born to be a hero in two different eras, we were meant to be in this place, at this specific time, to serve the Lord and fulfill the calling He placed on us. If we are still here, the that means our mission on this planet isn’t over yet… and our most important work for Christ remains in front of us. Let’s pick that shield up and allow the Lord to reveal the purpose we were designed for. We are not “out of time”… He made us for such a time as this.
Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:14b
Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:8-10
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
