While trying to craft the perfect song to compete with their new opponents the “Saja Boys”, the Huntrix crew landed on “Takedown”… a “diss track” that focused on attacking their opposition rather than focusing on what they did best. This not only created division within their own team, but it also gave their opponents an opportunity to use that very song against them at the worst possible time. Using the power of their platform to attack others didn’t elevate them to success, it lowered them to the level of the very team they were trying to defeat. Ironically, it was Jinu that reminded Rumi that “if hate could beat Gwi-Ma I would’ve done that a long time ago”. Fortunately, they learned their lesson in the end… you can’t fight fire with fire or expect to overcome evil with hate. The only cure for darkness is the light.
While it may feel good in the moment, taking others down never results in raising the Lord up. We are commanded to overcome evil with good, and while that sounds counter-intuitive, it’s more than just a Biblical principle… it’s scientific. Newton’s third law states that for every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction, so let’s choose the high road in every interaction today and show the Lord’s mercy, grace and love even on those we deem undeserving of it. The only way to take evil down is to lift Him up.
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:17-18, 20-21
For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:20
And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to Myself. John 12:32
