Starting a brand new game can be intimidating at the beginning… even after successfully completing a previous game and unlocking every achievement, staring out at the expansive, undiscovered open world in front of this new character can be overwhelming. I may have just finished saving the galaxy in an unrelated adventure, but this new game will unfold in a completely different manner, with a unique control scheme and fresh challenges that have nothing to do with my previous triumphs. My victories as Mario may not help Link, but the same hands that saved the Mushroom Kingdom are about to free Hyrule.
In life, we frequently move from one battle to the next, with little time to savor victory before embarking on a new adventure. And often our success in a previous challenge may not seem to have anything in common with the conflict we are about to face… but the one thing that is consistent in what lies behind us and what stands before us is the Lord. We can have peace and courage knowing the same hands that held the controller in our last battle are in control of this next one… and He’s undefeated.
Then Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.” Joshua 10:25
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33
