Final Fantasy IV: The Transformation of Cecil

At the heart of most of my favorite Final Fantasy games is a love story… two individuals who have been brought together by an incredible set of circumstances to save the world, and in the process of finding their purpose in life they find the love of their life as well. But their love wouldn’t amount to much if they each went back to their previous status quo after experiencing it. Real love compels them to grow as individuals and replace their previous selfish motivations with a desire to become the best version of themselves. This love doesn’t simply bring them together as a couple… the development of their relationship is a parallel path, perfectly intertwining their larger mission with their personal journeys of growth.

The Lord loves us beyond our comprehension, and His great love for us compelled Him to come and die for us to save us. He has invited all of us to “come as we are”, but He loves us too much to let us stay what we were. His love is a free gift, but receiving it starts the process of transforming us into who we were always meant to be. When we authentically experience His love in our lives, our hearts reciprocate His love in our obedience to Him and defines how we treat others going forward. Love isn’t something we say, it’s something we SHOW… let’s actively demonstrate the presence of Christ’s love in our lives today.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:2-3
