There are very few games that are as perfectly set up for a rhythm-based spinoff as Kingdom Hearts, and “Melody of Memory” makes good on that potential with an exploration of the story from a completely different style of gameplay. In this game, timing is EVERYTHING… while the action-based entries in the series are designed to support more of a freestyle approach for Sora and his pals, this one requires players to match their movements to specific button prompts that are timed to the music. While waiting for just the right time to press them demands both patience and restraint, advancing in the game only occurs when our efforts are coordinated with the rhythm that has been established by the game creator.
Following the Lord in obedience is all about His “timing”, and even our well-meaning attempts to do the right thing at the wrong time will always end in disastrous results. The Lord has carefully planned and orchestrated our story and every action we are meant to take in life in a very specific rhythm, intertwining our movements with the needs of others and the world around us at specific dates and times that cannot be rushed. Let’s resist the urge to “freestyle” our walk with the Lord and fully submit ourselves to Him each day, including when He tells us to “pause”. He will guide our steps to align with His perfect timing.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Psalm 37:7
Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.” Matthew 7:6
