During the height of the “format wars”, Xbox attempted to compete with Sony’s Blu-Ray disc with their own high-definition storage disc… the ill-fated HD-DVD. After spending a small fortune developing the technology to support this expensive addition to their product line, the HD-DVD drive launched to complete consumer apathy due to the lack of quality content available for it. Most movie studios made their titles exclusively available on Blu-Ray, leaving HD-DVD with only a handful of compelling options. Both Sony and Xbox created a product with similar capabilities, but the Blu-Ray format became the universal standard of physical media because their discs exclusively carried the content that we wanted on the INSIDE.
As a follower of Christ, the only fruit we can offer others is what we’ve allowed the Lord to produce in our lives… if we haven’t grown and applied that fruit in our lives FIRST we are offering fruit that may look good on the outside but doesn’t possess any beneficial content on the inside. If we want to shine a light that contains actual warmth and provide fruit that truly feeds others, we must ingest that fruit and demonstrate it in our actions. This world is filled with “content”… let’s offer something the souls around us NEED, not a shiny disc with only hollow promises inside.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5
