It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… it was Halo 2. While almost everything about Halo 2 improved on its predecessor, the cliffhanger ending that left us with an almost three year wait to see what happens next was not my favorite part of the experience. Not only did the game end right when it was building to a massively exciting crescendo, the next game in the series came out on an entirely different console, forcing me to upgrade to an Xbox 360 to “finish the fight”. But when Halo 3 finally launched as a nearly perfect end to the trilogy, I realized that the wait (as well as the personal upgrading I had to do) was definitely worth it.
Waiting for an answer to prayer is never easy, and as the ticks of the clock turn into months on the calendar, we can begin to lose faith that a response is coming. But there is a reason that during His time on this planet that Jesus never seemed to be in a hurry… He knew that these times of waiting are when the Father is preparing the environment for His solution to the problem. Sometimes He is developing us to prepare us to take that next step in our walk of faith, and other times He is building the platforms we will need as well as gathering the support partners who will be taking that journey with us… so let’s fully trust in His timing. He always finishes the story.
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:13-14
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31
