Halo: Reconciling With the Truth About our Best “Destiny”

If we are all being honest, Halo hasn’t been the same since Bungie moved on to create Destiny and Microsoft handed the Halo license to 343 Studios. As a Halo super fan, I have to admit that none of the games developed after this split have lived up to the franchises’s high points of Halo 3 or Reach. While 343 Studios clearly has a passion for growing the Halo franchise, the truth is nobody knows this series and how to honor its characters better than the minds who carefully and intentionally created it in the first place… and Master Chief will never be in better hands than when he was under the loving care of those who designed him and brought him to life.

The best we can hope to accomplish when we usurp control of our lives from the Lord is to create our own inferior sequels that pale in comparison to what He originally designed for us. As our loving and benevolent Creator, He knew every beat of our life’s story before we ever took our very first step… and even the “detours” that He leads us down always serve a higher purpose than we can comprehend at the time. Let’s relinquish control of our lives, stop pursuing our own selfish dreams and self-serving goals, and obediently follow what the Lord has scripted for us… His ways are always higher and better than anything we could ever come up with.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. Psalm 139:1-4

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. Psalm 139:16
