The Microsoft Kinect: Ahead of it’s Time?

The first iteration of the Microsoft Kinect was ahead of its’ time, but because the technology as well as the software support to deliver on all of its’ promises wasn’t fully ready, the Kinect ultimately failed to live up to all the hype. Timing is everything… the convergence of great games and a unique interface could have changed the way we experience games forever, but even the best ideas executed at the wrong time always end in disappointment. Having a vision is good, and possessing the ability to execute it is even better… but the very best things come to those who are willing to wait for vision, capability, and destiny to converge into a perfect alignment.

The Lord’s timing is rarely the same as ours, and the dreams He places in our hearts often have delivery dates that are far later than we prefer. During those time periods in life that appear to represent a “delay” in our vision coming to pass, the Lord is aligning the partners we’ll need, the opportunities that we’ll step into, and developing our own abilities so we can walk in the destiny He has designed for us. Moses’s path started with leading sheep for forty years before he spent his next forty years guiding Israel to the promised land, so let’s find peace in the knowledge that we aren’t simply waiting for the Lord to do something, we’re actively preparing.

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hurries toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it delays, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay long. Habakkuk 2:3

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:25-26
