The original Mass Effect trilogy was packed with hundreds of unique choices throughout the series, but every one of these paths still led us all to the same place with one final decision left to make. From “Paragons” to “Renegades” and every variation in between, each Commander Shepard eventually had to answer the question of how to resolve the Reaper invasion once and for all. No matter what dialogue options we had chosen or gameplay selections we had made, at the endgame every player still stood in front of the same consoles to resolve the universal conflict we all faced. We may not have gotten here the same way, but we were all unified by where our individual choices eventually brought us… to one centralizing point of final resolution.
While each of our lives play out differently, all of our choices and decisions still build to the same critical decision… do we choose to resolve our lifelong conflict with sin on our own terms, or Christ’s? Do we allow what we’ve endured in life to shape us into a grateful recipient of the Lord’s abundant grace, or does it cause us to reject His mercy? No matter how each of us arrive at our individual valley of decision, transformation is the only path to resolution… and we all choose something. Let’s break the cycle once and for all, sacrifice ourselves, and gain Christ in return.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days. Deuteronomy 30:19-20a
