Animal Crossing: “Covering” the Pitfalls

Animal Crossing is a pretty safe place to stroll around in , with no health bars to worry about or even the ability to take damage. But there ARE a few annoyances that can have an adverse effect on the experience, such as the “pitfalls” in the ground that appear to be concealing an item of value on the surface… but they are actually hiding a hole in the ground that characters can fall into. These hidden traps would be easy to avoid if they weren’t disguised as a spot that contains a secret treasure, but falling into one doesn’t have to be a permanent setback. Once we or someone else falls into a “pitfall”, there is a simple solution… get out of the hole, grab our shovel, and cover it up so nobody falls in again.

We will all trip and fall into some “pitfalls” during our time on this planet, and the greatest gift any of us can offer each other is the same full and unearned forgiveness that Christ has given to all who have repented and accepted His grace. True forgiveness isn’t measured merely by our words of restoration, but by our intentional actions to lovingly cover the sins and missteps of our repentant brothers and sisters in the same manner that Jesus has freely absolved us of our misdeeds. Let’s demonstrate the Lord’s mercy and grace, release others from their mistakes, and cover up those holes… once and for all.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends. Proverbs 17:9
