One of the best additions to Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ability to leave your island and visit other real-world player’s towns, but this enhancement does come with some drawbacks. There are plenty of gamers out there who don’t behave in a very “neighborly” manner when they travel to another player’s island, and while the damage they can do is fairly limited they can still create preventable problems. Fortunately, there is a solution… by placing fences from the point of entry to the area guests are permitted to visit, everyone is able to access what was designed to be shared while protecting the island from taking damage by those who would abuse the privilege.
All of us are called to follow the Lord’s example and freely offer His unearned grace and love to everyone we meet, but we are also guided by Him to walk in wisdom, approaching this world in a manner as innocent as doves while remaining shrewd as serpents to satan’s desire to harm us, abuse our good intentions, and sabotage our mission. While Christ works through us to shine His light in the darkness, satan uses people like Judas and Jezebel to advance his evil plots, and it is only by prayerfully leaning on the Spirit of God for daily discernment that we can remain welcoming to all who are seeking Him while guarding our hearts from the enemy’s schemes.
Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:1, 10
