The act of “planting” in most games follows a pretty predictable and linear path… if I plant an apple seed into the ground, typically one single apple tree will grow.  But Animal Crossing: New Horizons provides a special opportunity for our planting to create exponential growth as long as I am willing to make a short-term sacrifice for a long-term gain. There are some unique spots in the ground where I can plant some of my hard-earned in-game currency and see a “money tree” pop into existence on a later date. But in order to receive this 3x bonus on my investment, I first must be willing to bury my “bells” into the ground in faith that this temporary investment will end up paying off for me in the future.

If I’m being honest, investing has never been my strong suit… I much prefer a bird in the hand to two in the bush. But all of the “sowing” in life that we perform for the Lord will require an act of sacrifice in the present as well as the patience to see it bear fruit in the future… from the time we spend with Him in the Bible and prayer to the acts of obedient service that we perform as His followers. It can be hard in the moment for us to give up our limited time, energy, and resources and see zero impact in our present moments of need, but what we willingly sacrifice for the Lord today will be exponentially worth it in His time.

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:20-21

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8
