The events of the “Andor” series as well as the Star Wars: Rogue One movie finally revealed the massive amount of sacrifice that was involved in acquiring the Death Star plans as well as setting in motion all of the events that would build up to the Rebel Alliance toppling the Empire. The heroic actions of these imperfect but completely committed rebels is best summed up in Luthen’s iconic line, “I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see”. All of these fictional characters made massive sacrifices for a future they never got to personally enjoy… all because they believed that saving each of their worlds was a cause worthy of giving their lives for.
All who have chosen to follow in our Savior’s footsteps have chosen to live a life of service and sacrifice, and the truth is that we may not get to see or enjoy the fruits of our labor on this side of eternity. But we aren’t simply giving our lives away… we are investing them so all can see the “Son” rise through our unselfish, sacrificial actions as we willingly choose to burn our lives for His sake as well as theirs. We will all see the temporary flame of this life flicker out one day… let’s place our lamps into His hands and share His light to our world so it will continue to burn long after we are gone. Let’s shine boldly for Him today… the hope found in Him is worth the price.
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24-25
He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 10:38-39
