The Death Star is one of the deadliest projects in the entire sci-fi universe, a monstrous battle station designed to both intimidate and destroy all who dared to defy will of the evil Empire. But in Star Wars: Rogue One, we found that this horrific construct was designed by an unwilling scientist who had deliberately engineered a fatal weakness into the system… one that would later be exploited by the Rebel fleet. Even though the enemy was able to successfully bring their plans into reality, it was already doomed to fail… and the technological terror meant to inspire fear in the galaxy was actually destined to bring people like Luke Skywalker into an intersection with their destiny that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.
As followers of Christ, our lives will be filled with challenging situations designed by our enemy to control our actions and conquer our faith. We have an active adversary who will form plans and develop weapons against us for the entire duration or our earthly lifetime… but we serve a Savior who takes the very things constructed to intimidate and destroy us to serve His purpose on this planet. Weapons WILL be formed against us by an opponent bent on defeating us, but even when it seems like they are winning, we can rest assured that the Lord will not only turn them to our good but use them to fulfill our destiny!
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
