The character of Ahsoka didn’t exactly receive the warmest of welcomes when she originally debuted in the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated movie… both her fictional mentor Anakin as well as the real-world Star Wars fanbase perceived her as an unnecessary addition to the Obi-Wan/Anakin dynamic that already worked so well. But Ahsoka pushed through the painful experience of being an unwanted padawan to grow into a feared warrior with few equals, even defeating Darth Maul himself in combat. Despite all of the losses she experienced and even seeing her own mentor turn to the dark side, Ahsoka didn’t let her struggle define her… she used the pain to refine her into a hero who has transcended the Clone Wars series to became a franchise icon.
Real-world heroines such as Sarah, Ruth and Esther could have easily allowed the pain that caused one to be barren, left one a widow, and another an orphan to define them… but they pushed through these hardships and tragedies to become the champions that their stories called for. Our hard times in life will often feel unnecessarily painful, but they are the refining fire the Lord uses to bring unbelievable miracles into our lives. If our story feels unreasonably hard, it’s proof of an incredible future destiny that couldn’t have been achieved any other way.
But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” Ruth 1:16
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11
Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:14
