The story of Cal Kestis that plays out over the course to the Star Wars: Jedi series fills in a few of the gaps in the Star Wars timeline, and it also introduces us to a previously unknown survivor of Order 66. Cal errantly believed that he was “lost to the force” and destined to live his life in hiding, but his destiny wasn’t merely to survive, and he was never “lost”. He was intentionally hidden by the force to keep him safe from the lethal Inquisitors that were hunting him and other Jedi like him down until he had grown strong enough to face and defeat them… and along the way he would achieve his hidden purpose by unlocking the pieces of a puzzle that would one day help save the entire galaxy.
If the trials you’re dealing with have made you feel “lost” to the Lord, you are in pretty good company… many of our “heroes of faith” have felt the same way, and even Jesus cried out “Why have You forsaken Me?” from His cross. The Father never loses track of us or abandons us no matter how crazy it gets down here. We all face times of feeling unseen, unheard, or hidden while He completes the work He’s doing in us, but we are never out of His sight… we are simply being shielded from view until we are ready for the next mission He has for us. We’re more than just survivors in Christ… we are conquerors.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39
Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31
