One of the biggest surprises for me in the KPop Demon Hunters movie is that every principal character was voiced by two different people… one to provide the spoken words and another to deliver the iconic singing performance. Despite being brought to life by two different humans, the transition came together so seamlessly that it was nearly impossible to tell where one started and the other finished… all because their goal wasn’t to bring attention to themselves and their unique vocal talents. It was to come together as one and share the responsibility of making the character they were voicing the star of the show.
As followers of Christ, we are all responsible for using our God-given gifts and talents to shine the spotlight on Christ in all that we say or do. But these actions don’t take place in a vacuum… we have been commissioned as one body made up of many parts, collaborating together without ego or jealousy to bring His messages to life. Some will sing and others will talk, some will create and others will share, some are visibly seen while others encourage from behind the scenes… all are critical roles working together to serve the Lord. Let’s put aside our own selfish goals and use our gifts the way He designed them to work… as a harmonious combination of voices and hearts that points others to Him.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1 Corinthians 3:6-8
For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them. Romans 12:4-6a
