The Millennium Falcon is arguably one of the most popular and recognizable “spaceships” of all time, but it hasn’t always been known for its speed and maneuverability alone. The Falcon was designed as a smuggling vessel, leveraging its’ capabilities for use in all manner of illegal activities prior to the more heroic actions of its later days. But the ship that had previously only been known by thieves and pirates as a ferry for their ill-gotten gains would one day use those very same cargo holds to shield and protect the galaxy’s greatest hope… and when it was time to take down a Death Star, the Falcon’s unique design was exactly what the situation called for.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve made many decisions in life that you regret and wish you could change… but while we can’t simply erase our “smuggling days”, through repentance and reconciliation with the Father we CAN change our smuggling ways and use the very same vessel that once brought us shame to serve His glorious purpose. No matter how we started our lives, the Lord knew every choice we would make before we ever made it… and what we once used to serve the darkness can still be used for His glory if we submit ourselves to Him. He doesn’t just repurpose us… He reveals our true purpose that was waiting to come into the light all along.
And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. Joshua 6:25
By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. Hebrews 11:31
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21
