In “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”, Nintendo finally made Princess Zelda herself the primary playable character in the series that bears her name. While she has often taken on an active role in saving her kingdom, Zelda has primarily played a supporting role in her own franchise up to this point. Now it’s finally her time to shine, and all the years that Zelda put into growing as a beloved character with serious skills of her own instead of simply as a princess needing saving are finally paying off. It took a long time for her to get here, but she wasn’t just waiting for this to happen. She has been actively preparing for this moment the entire time.
Many times in our lives we may feel like we aren’t even the main character in our own story, watching the Lord use others in powerful ways while we struggle in obscurity. But the Father has a place for each of us in the narrative He is writing, and if we will be faithful to draw near to Him and develop ourselves in these private places, He will reward us with opportunities to serve Him and His kingdom in His perfect time. Let’s put this “development time” that He has given us to good use… the spiritual growth that exclusively occurs in these quiet places is critical to the success of our future missions. We aren’t passively waiting, we are actively preparing.
A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time. Isaiah 60:22
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:7
