Kirby and the Importance of What We Choose to “Consume”

Kirby is one of the most identifiable characters in all of gaming, but it is his very unique method of learning new skills in his games that makes him truly stand out… he consumes an ability and then becomes capable of using that power. As Kirby literally demonstrates the axiom “we are what we eat”,  he must intentionally choose what he absorbs based on what capabilities he wants to possess and utilize.  If his upcoming mission benefits from the ability to wield a sword, he must seek out and “consume” that skill so he can use it later in battle… and if he doesn’t take time to absorb the most beneficial things, he can’t access them when he needs them the most. If Kirby only eats useless items, he will enter these battles unarmed and unprepared.

Our world is full of both content for us to absorb and battles for us to fight, and what we choose to consume determines how prepared we are for the challenges we will face. Time spent with the Lord in prayer and invested in Bible study arms us with His wisdom and provides us with the abilities we will need to overcome temptations and tear down enemy strongholds, so let’s take the time to prayerfully consider what meets His criteria for beneficial absorption and “consume” that today. We are as spiritually ready for the challenges of today as we choose to be.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23
