Mario Kart: Same Item Box, Different Provision, Always Enough

Item boxes in Mario Kart are both intentionally placed in their location by the game’s developer as well as dynamically filled…  upon picking one up, players receive a unique item based on their specific position in the race and their needs at that time. Racers at the back of the pack receive powerful boosts like a golden mushroom or a speeding bullet to help them get closer to the front, while those who are in the lead find that the same item box that provided a “Bullet Bill” for others was packed with an ordinary green shell or some coins for them. While it may not feel fair, each racer gets exactly what is needed and appropriate for their current race position, so there is no need to be jealous… when our situation calls for “Star Power”, we will get it.

It’s easy to look at what others have received in their “item boxes” in life and feel that our gifts and talents were not distributed fairly… but the Lord provides each of His servants with exactly what they need for their specific place on the track at that moment in time. When our situation call for a boost of speed, we’ll get one… but if He only provides one little green shell, we can be confident it’s all we’ll need. David beat Goliath with one well-placed rock and a heart of faith, so let’s pray for His provision today and trust that what He provides will be more than enough.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7, 19
