Mario Kart: Falling Down, Getting Back on the Track

As hard as I try to prevent it, there are still times that I fall off the track while playing Mario Kart. Fortunately, that mistake doesn’t mean that my game is over or that I’ve lost the race… I will be picked up, placed back on the track in the most recent safe position that I was in, and given an opportunity to try that same section of the track again. The game isn’t penalizing me by placing me back before my misstep occurred… like every other racer on this track, I will have to navigate that turn in order to move forward. I can’t simply bypass it because it is difficult…  but I can learn from my previous error, make a better choice, and safely navigate that turn this time around.

Just as King David found when trying to bring the ark to Jerusalem, the Lord has a specific way He wants His will to be done here on earth…  and if we try to accomplish the things the Lord has placed on our heart in a different manner than He has told us do them, our actions can’t be blessed by God. Fortunately, when we get it wrong He gives us an opportunity to try again after we fall until we get it right… and because He loves us, He won’t let us skip a critical lesson until we master it. Let’s accept His correction and return to the track again… not in shame but with determination. This race is still ours to win, but there is only one way to run it… His way.

For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity. Proverbs 24:16

The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down. Psalm 145:14
