Mario Kart Cup Races: Starting Out Wrong, But Still Finishing Strong

Every Mario Kart title features a variety of “cup races” to compete in, and winning one of these cups requires the racer to achieve the highest combined score across all of the tracks in the circuit. Over each of the rounds, participants may end up last on any given lap or even an entire track, but that doesn’t mean they have lost all hope of winning the trophy. While a slow start does require a higher level of focus and determination on the laps remaining to us, even the worst beginning can be offset by our full commitment to running the rest of our race with excellence… that Star Cup can still be ours.

If anyone knows what it feels like to completely botch the first race in their circuit, it was the Apostle Paul… he started off his race by running in the completely opposite direction, actively persecuting the followers of Christ before his conversion. But Paul didn’t allow his shameful past to destroy his future… he fully accepted the Lord’s grace to not only move forward from his past mistakes, but run the remaining laps of his race with confidence. We all have parts of our circuit that we regret, but continuing to stare at them in our rear view mirror only slows us down. No matter how poorly we started, we still get to choose how we finish… let’s put the past behind us and press forward towards the goal today.

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
