While there are plenty of obstacles that can stop us in our tracks during a Mario Kart race, the “inked screen” from a Blooper ink attack is the only one that causes us to slow down or stop of our own accord. Technically, we could keep on moving forward… this attack doesn’t impair or impact our vehicle, only our visibility. But our lack of sight can cause us to take our foot off of the gas pedal or even hit the brakes and pull over until this effect has worn off… even though we know these roads, we don’t have the same confidence navigating them in the dark.
When the road in front of us is impossible to make out, continuing our race is a frightening prospect… but if we become paralyzed by our fear of an uncertain future and stop moving forward, we give our enemy exactly what they were hoping for. While our adversary seeks to stall our progress by closing all the paths that we can physically see, the Lord never asked us to walk by sight… and roads that don’t require faith to navigate aren’t roads that lead to truly meaningful victories. Let’s lean on Christ and remember His past faithfulness to us when the screen gets dark… He is our light in these dark places, and He will see us through to the end.
For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, like those who have long been dead. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed. Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Psalm 143:3-4, 8
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
