Races in Mario Kart can be won or lost based on the item boxes around the track that we pick up, and the most devious object in the entire game is the “fake” item box. From a distance, it draws us in by appearing to be a normal item box containing a game-changing power-up… it is only when we are close enough to pick it up that we realize it is actually a counterfeit item box in disguise, dropped by an adversary to knock us off course. This fake item box may have looked like it contained answers to all of our problems, promising us a shortcut to victory, but it only lured us into a trap of pain and heartbreak.

Our enemy is fiercely aware of the prayers that we speak and is actively engaged in fighting against them, and one of his most sinister tricks is to disguise his evil schemes as an answer to our heart’s deepest desires. Satan masquerades as an angel of light, even boldly offering Christ a counterfeit path to victory during His wilderness temptation and promising Him a crown without a cross. Every good gift is from our Father, but His definition of good and ours isn’t always the same. The serpent has told us what we want to hear from day one, while the Lord tells us what we NEED to hear. Let’s test everything we see, read, and hear against what the Bible has to say on the subject… it will never steer us wrong.

And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
