KOTOR: Jedi, Sith, and Two Sides of the Same Coin

“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” is my all-time favorite game for many reasons, but the largest contributing factor is that STORY. Both the high-minded Jedi and the power-hungry Sith acted in ways that were equally duplicitous to achieve their goals, blurring the line between who truly possessed the moral “high ground”.  Both were fully convinced of their viewpoints and pressuring me to choose between the lesser of two evils… before revealing that they were both essentially two sides of the same flawed coin.  Neither truly had my best interests at heart, and Revan was merely a pawn in their game, an asset to be exploited and discarded after use.

Many times in life the choice between light and dark can become blurry, with both sides of any “moral conflict” appearing reasonable when it suits them and irrational when disagreed with.  Philosophies are always changing based on what is aligned with self-serving goals… they may be convinced of their good intentions, but each side will let us down when their facades are exposed and ulterior motives revealed.  Only the Father has the eternal best interests of His children at heart… and the only side He is on is His own. Let’s be mindful of the battle lines we choose to draw today… Christ didn’t come to win arguments, He came to save souls and give life.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Joshua 5:13-14
