In the midst of the “retro mini” renaissance that saw both Nintendo and Sega release miniature versions of their consoles pre-loaded with most of their greatest hits, Sony decided to jump on the bandwagon and launch the “PlayStation Classic”… but while it had the look and feel of the original PlayStation that we all know and love, something was missing. Specifically, the GAMES. Most of the iconic games that made the PS1 a must-own console were not developed or owned by Sony, so they couldn’t include them in the meager list of twenty games that the PS Classic contained. The PS Classic certainly gave off the right vibes, but it lacked the content we were seeking… you can’t give what you don’t possess.
As followers of Christ, we have an expectation of shining His light and carrying His love, truth, and grace into the world around us… but similar to the PS Classic, we can only give to others what we ourselves possess first. We are not merely conduits… we are vessels who must first be filled with His love, joy, and peace before we are able to authentically share it with others. Let’s ingest His Word and seek Him in prayer today, allowing Him to fill us with His unlimited love, eternal truth, unspeakable joy, and peace that passes all understanding. Our world needs more than just good vibes; it needs to see Jesus living in us.
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:6-7
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
