The Reason I Bought a PS1…

If I’m being honest, I didn’t plan to purchase a Sony PlayStation 1… at the time, I was the mostly satisfied owner of a Sega Saturn system as well as a few older Nintendo consoles, and I thought that my gamer life was as good as it could get. But then I saw some new games coming out that were exclusive to the PS1 that I really wanted to experience… games like Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo, FFVII, and Metal Gear Solid that simply weren’t available on any of the platforms that I owned. I never thought I would become a Sony “fanboy”… but it offered an experience that would never come to the systems I possessed.

In our mission to reach others for Christ, trying to convince them that their “system” is flawed or insufficient will only serve to create unwinnable arguments and division. It is only by showing the authentic joy and peace we experience through Christ in our daily lives and demonstrating the exclusive fruits of a life lived in submission to Him that we will make others interested in what our “platform” has to offer… especially when life gets tough. In a world that’s desperately seeking a love that is genuine and a hope that is real, we are the carriers of Christ’s light on this planet… and our calling is to shine Him in everything we do so that others will both see and be drawn to an authentic experience that’s only found in Him.

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
