Cable’s backstory is definitely one for the comic books… he’s the time-hopping mutant son of Jean Grey and Cyclops who traveled back to the past to prevent his apocalyptic future from ever happening. But if you thought that having the powers of time-travel would make life easier, he would certainly disagree… if anything, his ability to move through time just created problems for him to solve in multiple timelines. By going back into the past to stop Apocalypse from becoming a threat to the future in the first place, Cable inadvertently created the very future that he was trying to prevent. After all of his time-displaced adventures, Cable found that the best use of his abilities was to use them right where he was at.

Many times I have prayed to have more time or even wished to go back in time so I could try to do things differently… but the reality is I am not always maximizing the time I have right now. The Lord knows exactly how many days we have on this planet, and He has a plan for each of them… a plan that we only get one chance to fulfill. If the future version of ourselves sent us back in time to today for a second chance to live it, what would we do with the opportunity? Let’s redeem this new day and choose to live it with purpose… “the present” is a gift that we only receive once, and the Father gave us this day for a reason.

So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17
