Ororo Monroe, better known as “Storm”, knows a little something about the interesting dual nature of the winds and the rain… while these elements certainly possess the capacity to be incredibly destructive, she has found that they can also be used constructively to solve problems beyond any human’s capabilities. The atmospheric conditions that surround her can certainly look overwhelming and terrifying on the surface, but these forces are actually what she is perfectly designed to utilize to serve her unique purpose.

We will all face some powerful storms in life that we would rather avoid, but as the early followers of Christ learned these winds and rain often serve purposes far beyond our comprehension. As the Apostle Paul learned during the typhoon that caused his shipwreck, the destructive power of that unwanted storm pushed him in a direction he wouldn’t have travelled to on his own… and that detour resulted in an opportunity to share Christ to an entire island of needy souls. Let’s look at the storms we are facing with the Lord’s eternal purposes in mind, and pray for Him to open our eyes to the hidden opportunities that only exist within this undesired environment. He sets the boundaries for this tempest we are in, and He will use this storm to unlock a destiny that only exists where the winds are fiercest.

The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. Nahum 1:3b

“O you afflicted one, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, and lay your foundations with sapphires. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord. Isaiah 54:11, 17
