It isn’t easy being Professor X… as arguably the most powerful telepath in comic history, Charles Xavier has the innermost thoughts of every being within his immediate vicinity bombarding his mind at all times. But while a lesser individual would abuse this power for selfish gain, Charles chose to use his ability to hear the thoughts and desires of others to help them and guide them… and even though he lacked the ability to assist them physically due to his confinement in a wheelchair, he never let that prevent him from being the support they needed the most. And as the leader of the X-Men, he accomplished more good by building and growing the capabilities of others than he ever would’ve achieved alone.
We each receive different gifts to serve the Lord as well as others on this planet, and we also possess unique limitations that we won’t always appreciate. And if we aren’t careful, we can allow the things that we believe we are “missing” to distract us from our “mission”, causing us to miss the entire point of the individual talents we were entrusted with. Our ministries are designed to be used in coordination with our fellow sisters and brothers in Christ, as each of us unselfishly amplify the abilities of others with our own gifts. Reaching our full potential for His kingdom is only found when we seek His will for others first.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:8-11
