I have found through experience that when a game provides items such as armor, helmets, or boots, they aren’t a recommendation… they are essential to survival. Try loading up a game like Skyrim and run through a cave without them… I tend to find myself defeated within mere minutes walking into a dungeon that I would’ve easily conquered if I had armor equipped. Does wearing armor prevent these battles from occurring or make me completely invincible from taking damage? No, but it makes these inevitable struggles survivable in a way that my own limited physical strength never could.
Trusting in our own human strength and capabilities to face our battles in life is a fool’s errand… we will only end up frustrated, exhausted, and defeated. Trusting in Christ doesn’t make us immune to hardships and struggles, but He DOES provide us with the strength to endure these battles and continue to produce fruit while we are still in the midst of them. Let’s hold onto our hope and continue to trust in the Lord through the storms we are facing… He is more than a recommendation. He is our strength and light in this present darkness.
Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:5, 7-8
