I have a feeling that most of my favorite game characters wouldn’t like me very much if they met me… not me as a human being, but me as the player who has been holding the controller throughout their journey. Think about it… it was my hands that led them into some tough battles and continued to press them forward when it would’ve been more comfortable to stop. But my concern for them was present the entire time… I ensured they got the rest, recovery, and healing they needed even while I developed them into the best version of themselves. And because they listened to my input and submitted to my control, we crossed the finish line together in victory as a team.
It can be hard to remain humbly submissive to the Lord when He directs us in ways that we would prefer not to go… but it is only in yielding full control of our lives to Him that we will get to enjoy the victory He has designed for us. We can’t mistake His willingness to guide us through the valley of the shadow of death as a lack of care or concern… He is walking through it WITH us, protecting us and even carrying us when we need it, all the way to the finish line.
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
