While I enjoy a dominating, landslide victory over my opponents as much as anyone, those aren’t the most satisfying matches I’ve experienced… they aren’t even the moments I talk about the next day. The most exhilarating and memorable wins are when my team pulls off an unbelievable comeback, snatching an impossible victory from the jaws of certain defeat as the final seconds on the clock tick down. And when I’m trying to convince someone new to join me and try the game for themselves, these are the stories that I share with them… not how “easy” the game is or how well I play it, but my personal, authentic, real-life stories of near-disaster that have become a part of my personal highlight reel.
The most compelling and relatable parts of our Christian testimonies are found in how the Lord took the utter hopelessness of our situations and forged an unexpected and previously impossible victory from the broken pieces of our lives. His saving power is most powerfully demonstrated through our weakness… stories we don’t tend to appreciate while we are still living in them. Let’s look at the current battles we are facing in life with fresh eyes… today’s trials are tomorrow’s testimonies to share His strength with others!
He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11
