Over the years, most games have replaced the traditional “med-packs” and health pickups we would use to heal ourselves with a much simpler form of health regeneration… seeking out a quiet place, holding still for a few seconds, and giving our health bar a chance to replenish itself. But this action that heals us can still feel frustrating, as we have to fully withdraw from the action and patiently wait for our health bar to be restored before we re-enter the war zone. The seconds we spend waiting are excruciating because we are anxious to get back into the action and help our team, but receiving the healing we need to support them only comes when we rest and wait.
The Lord’s will is all about TIMING… just like in our video games, there are many moving parts going on around us that we are completely unaware of. His plans frequently involve times when it appears that nothing is happening from our point of view, but these quiet moments of growth are critical to successfully enduring the battles that lie ahead of us. If we are currently in a “recharge” period, let’s fully embrace this time of waiting with Him and allow Him to fully heal us from our wounds. The battlefield will call for us soon enough, and we’ll need every bit of the strength, knowledge, and power He is giving us during this brief oasis to face whatever is next.
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. Psalm 40:1-2
