The “Secret” to Getting Our Prayers Answered

Open world adventure games often overwhelm me with options… different classes to choose from, multiple branching pathways to explore, and SO many equipment choices. Determining what is best for my specific character and play style is part of the fun… but this freedom also allows me to create my own problems. I can travel to places that are far above my current skill level, or waste time acquiring items and spending XP on skills that were designed for a different way to play the game (sneaking and archery) than my personal playing style (hack and slash). The developer crafted the game to support many different players and the way they will play the game, so there are directions that may be great for others that aren’t best for me.

Prayers that are answered in a specific way for others may not always be answered the same way for us, because we each have a unique calling that places us on different paths. Our desires must be fully aligned with His specific will for us… even our most unselfish and well-intentioned prayers must match the direction the Lord has for our lives and the souls who will be impacted by the answer for them to come to pass. Let’s not lose hope if our prayers haven’t been answered the way we wanted yet… the Lord may have something better in mind.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-14

All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits. Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. Proverbs 16:2-3
