Even when doing something fun like playing a game, we can still get frustrated for a variety of reasons. Maybe the save points are placed too far apart, the cutscenes aren’t skippable, the difficulty level randomly spikes, the health or ammo is too sparse to explore comfortably, or the glitches and bugs in the game mar the overall experience. But in those moments I can forget something incredibly important… I am still just playing a GAME. I’m beyond blessed to own a console, a game to play, a working controller, and to have any leisure time at all. The worst hour of my life spent playing a video game is still better than an hour of NOT playing one at all.
Life is full of tough times, difficult challenges, and losses that are hard to understand. But as hard as it can get down here, each breath we take is a gift that we have been given by our Father… a gift that doesn’t last forever. Let’s take a moment today to appreciate His love and provision, even if it isn’t delivered in the exact manner or the quantity we would have preferred. The worst day of life on earth is still a day of LIFE on earth, and not everyone received that gift today. One day we will all press “Continue” for the final time… so let’s be thankful for this priceless gift we’ve been given and use it wisely.
So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13
