While it can be hard to believe during some of the toughest controller-tossing battles we face, video games were designed for the player to WIN. There is a solution to every puzzle and a weakness to exploit in every boss fight… but finding them often involves enduring the difficult process of figuring out that strategy and trusting that a path to victory is present, even if we can’t see it yet. The game creator has set the “rules” for the battle, and while these boss fights may involve cheap tactics and an oversized health bar, we can trust that this mission was crafted with boundaries and rules for our opponents, our environment, other players, and ourselves.
Feeling the peace of God in our hearts can be challenging when enduring times of distress… but Christ promised us He would give us peace IN the storm, not FROM the storm. Possessing peace isn’t the absence of problems, but our awareness of His presence within our struggles, and letting His peace “rule” our hearts means trusting that He has set up the “rules” for this encounter and remains in full control of the outcome. The Lord is with us in every round of this fight and has set the boundaries for each battle… and when He doesn’t calm the waves, it’s because they are carrying us to a destination that we couldn’t have arrived at any other way.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33
