Halo: Power Through Proximity

While the Halo energy sword is an incredibly powerful weapon that can quickly shift the tide of any battle in the right hands, it does contain a built-in limitation… it is exclusively designed for close-quarters combat. To be effective, the player can’t simply hide in a safe position far from the battlefield and throw it at people from across the map… they must be willing to get up close and personal to make an impact. While unselfishly placing themselves in harm’s way involves risk, these trenches where the fiercest battles are fought are where victories are won.

In our daily battles against spiritual darkness, our sword wasn’t designed to do damage from a distance… it was built to bring hope to the hopeless in their moment of need by shining His light in the deepest part of the battlefield. Acting as the hands and feet of Christ on this planet isn’t something we can accomplish if we’re unwilling to get our hands a little dirty in the process… and His most critical missions will rarely take place within our comfort zones. Lets embrace the reason we were equipped with a sword in the first place… to do the work of Christ with boldness and set captives free.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:12-13
