Grace, Truth, and a Guilty Spark

Of all the adversaries that we encounter on the Halo ring, 343 Guilty Spark may be the most dangerous. While most of our enemies have the decency to confront us directly, 343 Guilty Spark used a combination of the truth about the Halo rings (setting them off will destroy the Flood) but left out its’ most important side effect (it works by destroying their food supply, specifically all life in the universe). Guilty Spark was telling the truth, but it only shared the part that served its’ purposes without regard for all the lives it would destroy in the process… truth without grace becomes guilt without hope.

While the truth contained throughout Scripture is designed to convict us of our sins and inform us of our need for a Savior, by submitting our past failures to Christ and choosing to follow Him we are given His full grace and set free from the burden we once carried. That spark of guilt that tries to remind us that we are unworthy, broken, and undeserving of a new life in Christ is technically accurate… but the completed work of Jesus finishes the equation, offering redemption by balancing truth with grace, silencing that Guilty Spark permanently.

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:17

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:6-9
