One of the most compelling twists in the Halo series was the complete misunderstanding by the Covenant forces of the true intention of the Halo rings… the Covenant prophets were not only misinformed, but they were blindly leading their entire coalition of allies into annihilating the entire universe. Their promise of a “Great Journey” into wonders beyond their follower’s dreams was built on a convenient collection of half-truths… and their intentional manipulation coerced those looking for a greater meaning into committing their lives to a deceptive false religion that would only bring them destruction.  

The most dangerous lies are intertwined with half-truths by those who have fallen for their own deception… while they may be sincere in what they believe, they’re still sincerely wrong. Jesus repeatedly warned us of the dangers of following false prophets and blind guides who prey on the misinformed and lead their well-meaning followers into destruction… and our only defense is to hold every message we hear up to the light of the entirety of Scripture for validation. There’s only two roads to choose from, and only the narrow way leads us home.

Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:17-18
