Almost every major gaming or movie villain feels the pressing need to explain themselves through massive one-sided monologues… they preach about their glorious purpose as they attempt to rationalize and justify their actions. And regardless of their intentions, the manner in which they are trying to “save the world” always puts them at odds with our hero. The irony is that many times the end goal of peace and harmony is shared by both characters… but the means by which they are willing to achieve those goals couldn’t be more different.
Our communication as ambassadors for Christ has very specific expectations… and when we fail to demonstrate His love and grace through the things we choose to say, share, or write we not only compromise our message, but grieve the Spirit of God as well. We’ve been given the ability for our voices, videos, and words to be heard, viewed, and read all over the world, so let’s use this technology to give joy, share love, and promote peace through salvation in Jesus Christ. The world doesn’t need any more rage, anger, hate, or bitterness… it has plenty of that already. Let’s choose the high ground today.
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. Ephesians 4:29-31
