An “Inconvenient” Path to Reach Every Heart

The gameplay in Kingdom Hearts represented a dramatic departure from what Square Enix has historically released, opting for real-time combat that anyone could pick up and play instead of the turn-based battle system they are know for. And this universally accessible approach has resulted in one of the best-rated and highest selling franchises of all-time… while it would have been much easier and more convenient for Square Enix to play to their strengths, this mission called for them to step far outside of their comfort zone so they could reach the largest possible audience.

Our service to the Lord will rarely involve us doing what we find comfortable or easy… that would make it tempting for us to depend on our own strength and capabilities instead of His. Jesus didn’t tell Peter to simply share His good news from the comfort of his boat at his convenience… He took ordinary fishermen and turned them into fishers of men. We should expect that acting as ambassadors for His kingdom will lead us down challenging and unfamiliar paths… saving every possible soul means stretching ourselves out to reach them.

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
