In most of my modern gaming adventures, my characters have the ability to “auto-heal”… simply getting out of combat for a few seconds gives them the chance to catch their breath and recover from even the most devastating injuries. But in Kingdom Hearts, these battles don’t offer me a break while I’m fighting… so I have to take the time to stop what I’m doing and heal myself and my allies in the middle of the battle. While this takes time and feels a bit inconvenient, it’s a necessary part of the game that forces me to stop, heal the damage I’ve taken, and gain the strength to move forward.
The real-world battles we face each day can feel so overwhelming, urgent, and demanding that we can easily forget to reach out to the Lord for healing in the midst of our struggle, not just once it is over. It is when we’re in the heat of our battle that it is most crucial for us to pray to Him for the peace, grace, wisdom, and strength to not only make it through this trial, but to stand tall while we are enduring it. He didn’t tell us to face these challenges alone and trust Him to heal us on the other side… if we are heading into the fire, He’s there with us.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Psalm 18:6
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
